Noodles Nail Polish Cherry on Top Part 2 2023 Swatches and Reviews

 *press samples*

Hello hello! You know I can get a bit wordy, even at the beginning of a post, but time is of the essence tonight, so I must be brief. You see, I was out of town when these polishes came in, and they will be available tomorrow (!!), so I wanted to get these up ASAP. You know how Noodles Nail Polish's releases are usually on Friday (or sometimes Saturday), right? Well, the Cherry on Top Part 2 Collection will be available tomorrow, Wednesday, August 16th at 5 PM ET and they will retail for just $10.50 each. If you think back to Part 1 from last year, you may remember that this set features all glitter toppers! This set follows that trend, and is an 8-piece set full of toppers in different shapes and sizes. Shall we get to it?

Best Techniques for Smoothing Out and Removing Glitter *updated 7/12/23*

Noodles Nail Polish is all about the glitter, all the time. While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one.

Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and "fill in" the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):

1. Glitter Grabber from Glisten and Glow
2. Gelous from American Classics
3. Smooth from Painted Phalanges (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)
5. Ooh Smooth! Glitter Smoothing Mid-coat from Dreamland Lacquer
6. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)

To use these glitter grabbing topcoats, it's best to let the polish to dry for several minutes before applying. If you apply the glitter grabber too quickly, the nail polish can eat up the glitter grabber a little, making the polish continue to have a little texture, even after the addition of a quick-dry topcoat. Using it this way requires a little more patience, but it's totally worth it.

I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take OffHit the Bottle Keepin' it Peel, or Black Dahlia Lacquer as they all work well (I am not affiliated with any site or brand...I'm just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there's always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you're ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. I hope this helps, and feel free to email me or leave a comment with any questions you may have.

Formula and Application

This time around, I used the toppers alone in 3 coats, or as a topper with 1 coat over a base color. These all work best with a glitter grabber followed by a quick dry topcoat. Since they are glitter heavy, I recommend flipping the bottle upside down for about 15 minute to allow any larger glitters to move to the top. Also, dabbing motions instead of full strokes allows you to really "place" the glitters where you want them.

Noodles Nail Polish Cookies and Cream (1 coat) over 2 coats Zoya Demetria

Nothing like the classic combo of red, black, and white, right? Cookies and Cream is like your favorite ice cream and features various sizes of hexagonal, dot, and square white/black matte glitters in a clear base. This one will go with so many base colors!

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Coral Cove over 2 coats Zoya Timo

Give me all the small star glitters! Coral Cove is my top pick from the collection, and it's summer in a bottle. It has mini watermelon stars, matte watermelon/turquoise/orange/light blue glitters and gold holo glitters in a clear base. There are lots of stars, so you don't need to go fishing for them. Hooray!

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Here Comes the Sun over 2 coats Zoya Heidi

Up next we have Here Comes the Sun which is heavy on the circle glitters, and I'm here for it. It's a yellow/orange/neon orange circle glitters, white matte glitters, and orange/green iridescent glitter in a clear base. Orange is very in right now and I love it.

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Hyacinth over 2 coats Static Lacquer White Primary

Hyacinth has matte periwinkle/magenta/orange/watermelon hexagonal glitters and holo flakes in a clear base. Did I have to Google what a hyacinth looks like? Yes, yes I did. Spoiler alert: they totally come in all these colors!

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Island Breeze over 2 coats Zoya Lena

Island Breeze was a surprise favorite from the set. There's just something about these colors that is giving me mermaid vibes! It has matte blue/green glitter, silver holo glitter, and neon blue dot glitters in a clear base.

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Summer Sunset over 2 coats Zoya Chelsea

Continuing on we have Summer Sunset which is a more neutral take for this summer set. It has matte magenta/hot pink glitters, metallic copper glitters, gold holo glitters, and multi-color shifting flakes in a clear base. I found you can use this one on its own and it basically covers in 3 coats. The density was just a little more with this one. Gotta love a glitter and flake mix!

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Watermelon Crush over 2 coats Zoya Link

Like I said before, give me all the circle glitter! Watermelon Crush has gold holo glitters, neon pink/green/red circle glitters, and lime/gold iridescent glitters in a clear base. You gotta have those neon colors for summer.

Noodles Nail Polish 1 coat Wildflowers over 2 coats Zoya Missy

Last, but certainly not least, we have another top pick from the collection, and that's Wildflowers. It has metallic and matte purple/periwinkle/raspberry pink/yellow/magenta/dandelion glitters with holo bright pink glitters in a clear base. I love how the glitter is smaller in this one, and it does remind me of a field full of random, small wildflowers. I'm really digging it on its own in 3 coats.

There you have it, folks! I'm sorry this was such a quick post, but I wanted you to see my thoughts and swatches before these go live. My top picks have to be Coral Cove, Wildflowers, and Island Breeze. Honestly, there's a little for everyone here.
