Noodles Nail Polish Cherry on Top Summer 2022 Collection Swatches and Reviews + Anniversary Polish

 *press samples*

Hi everyone! I know, I've been a bit too quiet for too long. I wish I could say I've been busy, but it's just been the usual around here. My husband and I did go to a new farmer's market this past weekend which was a blast. It was Tomato Day, and I'm a huge fan of tomatoes. We ended up getting some sweet corn, cheese, cherry tomatoes, cider, and hot breakfast sausage. I know, quite the variety! I wanted to buy some donuts made on site, but the line was crazy long. And the heat index was over 90 degrees at 10 AM. I should have a few more posts up in the next couple weeks, so keep checking back. Tonight I have the brand new 8-piece all glitter topper set from Noodles Nail Polish! These will be released this Thursday, July 14th at 5 PM ET and all polishes will retail for $10 each. Did you know that it's Noodles Nail Polish 9 year anniversary?! Natalie is also releasing a new polish on Thursday commemorating this special occasion. I wonder what she will be doing next year for 10 years.

As always, this is going to be a picture-heavy post, so lets get settled in for a bit.

Best Techniques for Smoothing Out and Removing Glitter *updated 4/25/22*

Noodles Nail Polish is all about the glitter, all the time. While we all love the bling, it can be a pain to remove. Oh, and it can be known to eat topcoat which leaves texture on the nail after it dries. If you are especially sensitive to feeling your polish, make sure your topcoat is a thick one, or apply a second coat of a thinner one.

Instead of applying 2 coats of thick topcoat, several indie brands have come out with a product that you use after your last coat of polish and before your topcoat. These are generally thick and "fill in" the gaps left from the glitter. Here are several products I use and recommend (in no particular order):

1. Glitter Grabber from Glisten and Glow
2. Gelous from American Classics
3. Smooth from Painted Phalanges (dries with a matte finish unlike the others)
5. Smooth and Shine Duo from Esmaltes da Kelly (available through Polish Pickup some months)

I also use peel-off basecoats to make removal a breeze. I recommend UNT Ready for Take OffHit the Bottle Keepin' it Peel, or Black Dahlia Lacquer as they all work well (I am not affiliated with any site or brand...I'm just sharing the love). The UNT works better for my body chemistry as the Hit the Bottle will sometimes pop off during the day. It seems like the UNT has been harder to find lately, so there's always the Holo Taco one if you really need one. If you want your polish to last a little longer, I completely understand. In that case, the foil method will work best for you when you're ready for a change. Clips like these are cheap and great for keeping the cotton balls in place. I hope this helps, and feel free to email me or leave a comment with any questions you may have.

Formula and Application for All Glitter Toppers
All of the glitter toppers were used with a single coat that were dabbed over the base color. I would also recommend placing the bottle upside down for about a half hour before applying if the topper happens to have larger glitter pieces (they tend to sink a little). If you don't flip it, you may have to fish a little for special glitters (large circles, stars, etc). All of these dry with lots of texture, so I recommend one of the glitter smoothing topcoats followed by a quick-dry topcoat for that smooth finish.

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Cherry Blossoms over 2 coats Zoya Dory

I try so hard to find fun base colors that really show off the glitter. If you find any that don't mesh in your opinion, please forgive me. Other swatchers showed these glitters alone in case you don't want to have a base color, so you can see those on the website when the polishes are posted on the website. Cherry Blossom is a clear base topper with magenta, pink, and blue matte glitters in various hexagonal glitter sizes. I think this would also work well with other pastel base colors.

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Cherry on Top over 2 coats Zoya Ness

I hope you're in the mood for the rainbow because this one's got it all. The glitters are smaller in Cherry on Top compared to the others, so you shouldn't have to flip the bottle over because the glitters stay suspended. This one is a sprinkling of fine pink, purple, yellow, orange, blue, green, white, and red glitters in hexagonal shapes. It's like sprinkles on ice cream!

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Delicate over 2 coats Zoya Joanie

We have my first top pick from the collection! I almost described the glitters in Cherry Blossoms from above as delicate, then I remembered that there is indeed a topper named Delicate in the collection (which is definitely more delicate than Cherry Blossoms). Delicate is a clear base topper with lavender, pale green, periwinkle, yellow, and light blue glitters in circular and hexagonal shapes. The circular glitters were more iridescent and sheer, so Natalie recommended using a lighter base color to make sure they showed up properly. I think this is another one that would work well over a variety of pastel base colors (and an Easter manicure).

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Flamingle over 2 coats Zoya Darcy

Continuing on we have Flamingle which is a clear glitter topper with various shades of pink and white hexagonal glitters. You can't tell from my photos, but my base color is yellow and not orange. Well, Zoya's Darcy is more of a "sunny" yellow color and the pink really brings out orange undertones. I'm actually a big fan of this combination.

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Happy Vibes over 2 coats Zoya Kay

I've been vocal in my love for flakie and glitter combinations, so you know Happy Vibes is another favorite of mine. It's a clear base with blue/violet/pink/gold/color shifting flakes and pink/fuchsia/violet metallic and holo glitters. It is so shiny and holographic and it begs to be seen. Now thinking back, I should have put this over a black base, too. Do that for me and post it in the Noodles Nail Polish Facebook Fan Group so I can see it :-D

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Let's Luau over 2 coats Zoya Heidi

Continuing on we have Let's Luau which is a clear topper with yellow, magenta, orange, turquoise, and blue matte glitters and gold holo glitters in hexagonal and square shapes. This reminds me of the carnival. You know, those traveling ones that pop up every summer? Just me? I think this one would work perfectly over a wide variety of base colors since it's so colorful.

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Neon Nights over 2 coats Zoya Charisma

Don't you think Neon Nights has a little bit of a Halloween vibe over this purple base? It has matte black hexagonal and star glitter with neon pink/green/purple/orange/yellow circular glitter. The star glitter tends to hide a little bit, so I recommend flipping the bottle over to limit any glitter fishing. Natalie actually recommended using this one over a white or very light color base because the circular glitters are more sheer, but as you can see, the purple still allowed the color to pop on the nail for me.

1 coat Noodles Nail Polish Pocket Full of Sunshine over 2 coats Zoya Ali

Last, but not least for the Cherry on Top Collection, we have Pocket Full of Sunshine which contains yellow matte and gold holo glitters in various hexagonal sizes. There's just something so cheerful about this yellow one that is making it another favorite for me. I think yellow is an underutilized color in the indie polish community (I think yellow is a hard pigment to work with from what I hear). Love it!

Anniversary Polish

Noodles Nail Polish 9 Years (3 coats)

First off, congratulations to Natalie for being in business for a whopping 9 years! I've been honored to work with the brand for several years, and I'm always surprised what she comes up year after year. This year's anniversary polish is named 9 Years and it is a soft semi-sheer lavender base with pink/orange/copper shifting shimmer, silver holo microflakes, and pale pink and gold holo glitters. I absolutely adore the shift in this one, and I hope it comes across in my photos. I ended up using 3 thin coats to fully cover my nail line, and it did dry with some texture due to the glitter.

There you have it, folks! My top recommendations have to be 9 Years, Pocketful of Sunshine, Delicate, and Happy Vibes which are all vastly different from each other (which I love!). Remember that the collection will be released on Thursday instead of Friday this week. Which ones will you be picking up? You can find out more about Noodles Nail Polish on their websiteInstagram pageFacebook page, and Facebook Fan Group. Have a great week!
