Polish Pickup May 2019: The 1980s with Noodles Nail Polish, Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer, and Static Lacquer

*press samples*

Hi guys! Tonight I've got 3 more polishes for this weekend's Polish Pickup (PPU). This month's theme is the 80's and I'm living for it! It all begins at 11:00 AM ET on the PPU website and runs through 11:59 PM ET. A couple of these items have caps, so you may want to make an early purchase and go back and pick up any you were on the fence about since they combine shipping and will refund any subsequent orders (if you're in the US, shipping is a flat $3). This is another picture-heavy post, so let's catch a glimpse of these warlocks.

Noodles Nail Polish BSC (2 coats) ($12)
Inspiration: Baby Sitter's Club books
Cap: None

Who used to read the Baby Sitter's Club books *raises hand*? I didn't read all of them, but I had a lot and loved them. Natalie went back to her roots and gave us an amazing bright pastel blue crelly with pastel pink, blue, green, orange, yellow, and purple glitters and a sprinkling of silver and pink holo glitters. I see various sizes of hexagonal glitter and one size (medium) square glitter. It applied nicely in just 2 coats, but does dry with texture from the glitter. For easier removal I recommend a peel-off basecoat or by using acetone-soaked cotton balls with finger clips like these. If you are a Baby Sitter's Club fan, or a glitter crelly fan, you'll absolutely need to add this to your list.

Soothing Soul Nail Lacquer Paintball (3 coats) ($12)
Inspiration: Paintball, which was first played in 1981
Cap: 75 bottles

I was so honored when Helene asked me to swatch her first PPU shade. Shockingly I've never played paintball, but I've heard that it can really sting. I've only played laser tag once, and that was just a couple years ago. Let me know in the comments what I'm missing! Paintball, the polish, is a bright orange crelly with multi-colored hexagonal and square glitter with fine gold microglitter. Oh, and just look at how awesome this looks under black light! I used 3 thin coats for full opacity, and it had a smooth formula. If you've never had the chance to try Soothing Soul Lacquer, definitely check this one out and her newest trio in her shop.

Static Lacquer Mini Magnets ($5)
Inspiration: 1985 by the band Bowling For Soup
Cap: 25 (US site) and 5 (UK site)

Stacy just released these mini magnets a couple months ago with her Primary Collection, and these are a wonderful addition to the Indie Pickup side of the site. This month's inspiration is the 2004 song "1985" by Bowling for Soup. I honestly thought this song came out in the late 90s, so I was way off. This song made me laugh so hard, and I loved singing it loudly in the car. Heck, I still do when it comes on the radio! These magnets are smaller than a penny and come in a pack of 4. They are strong magnets and they attach strongly to my Helmer drawers (which is where I've put all the ones I've received).

Static Lacquer She's Still Preoccupied with 1985 (2 coats) ($12)
Inspiration: 1985 by the band Bowling For Soup
Cap: 70 (US site) and 5 (UK site)

Red linear holographic polishes are hard to make, and Stacy did a great job with this one. I feel like we haven't been getting many straight up holo polishes for the last couple years, so this one felt refreshing and different. She's Still Preoccupied with 1985 is a blood red linear holo polish that is stronger than my photos show. You really need to have pure sunshine to get that true rainbow finish. I was worried that this one would stain my nails as it was so pigmented, and it did stain my basecoat, but not my nails. I would highly recommend a basecoat just in case. I am lucky to work with so many brands with a perfect formula.

I'll be sitting at my computer at 11:00 AM ET this Friday to get my order in. The site is currently open for wishlists, so head on over to see all of this month's offerings. You can find more about PPU on their Facebook page and website.
