Pepper Pot Polish Wild Planet Collection Swatches and Reviews

*press samples*

Hi guys! You know I'm such a slacker, so I know you're surprised I'm blogging 2 days in a row. I just couldn't wait any longer to show you a brand new collection from Pepper Pot Polish inspired by the totally awesome band, the B-52s. I was born in the 80s, and went to high school during the late 90s, so you know I'm well-versed in all things B-52s. I can remember dancing to "Love Shack" during Homecoming and thinking I was so cool. This is what Mackenzie has to say about the collection:

""Wild Planet" is a collection inspired by one of my favorite bands growing up, the B-52s! I wanted a color palette that reflected their silly and eclectic style & is Spring/Summer ready. This collection pairs perfectly with that loud polyester shirt you've had hanging in the closet for the last few decades, and absolutely DEMANDS you drive around the city with your windows rolled down and your music blaring (preferable playing "Rock Lobster").

I think the essence of the B-52s really came through in the 4-piece set she came up with. Before I forget to mention it, my personal favorite song happens to be "Good Stuff."

You know your foot was tapping through the whole thing! Ok, this set is being released at the same time as It's Winston! this Friday, May 11th at noon PST. Twenty percent of all total sales from the store between May 11-May 18 will go toward the Seattle Humane Society, so if you've been waiting to order, please do so for the animals. Shall we get a closer look at these beauties?

Pepper Pot Polish Cosmic Thing (2 coats)

Whoa, first thing's first. Cosmic Thing is hands down my top pick for the collection. My husband sees my nails with all sorts of crazy colors/finishes, and he immediately told me he loved this polish. He honestly does this fairly rarely, and it's usually after I ask him for his opinion, so it was unusual for him to notice it all on his own. It reminds me of a mermaid tail to be honest! It's a blue/green foil base that verges on gold at some angles, with blue/green/purple flakes. It applied flawlessly in 2 coats, and dried with a touch of texture. Removal wasn't very difficult, except that the foil flakes tend to want to stick to the skin. You need this one for the summer.

Pepper Pot Polish Hot Pants Explosion (3 coats)

Up next is Hot Pants Explosion which is a purple with red undertones with black and teal holographic microglitters and microflakies. It's another stunner on the nail. The microglitter makes it dry with some texture, so you may need to double up on the topcoat to smooth everything out. I used 3 thin coats, but you could likely get away with 2 if you used thicker coats. The formula was slightly thicker than the others, but it did not affect the application or its ability to self-level. I used a peel-off basecoat for removal, so you may need to bust out that foil to make things easier.

Pepper Pot Polish Planet Claire (2 coats)

It wouldn't be a true B-52s collection without a frosty pink polish. I had so many during the 80s and 90s! When you say "frost," it's a polarizing word. Planet Claire is light on the frost, and with a modern twist. It's a soft pink frost with lots of silver metallic flakes. After I finished college, my mom got rid of all my polishes, so I can only imagine the vintage polishes I lost. I'm so glad to have Planet Claire for nostalgic reasons. I used 2 coats for full opacity, and it dried with no texture with easy removal.

Pepper Pot Polish Private Idaho (3 coats)

And last, but not least, is Private Idaho which is a lime green base with green shimmer and loads of gold flakes. The flakes add such depth to the polish. This is another summer must-have for either the fingers or toes. I used 3 thin coats for the photos, but you could get away with 2 as I mentioned before. It dried with very minimal texture, and was easy to remove.

There you have it! My top picks from the collection are Cosmic Thing and Private Idaho, but you can't go wrong with any of them. Each polish will be $10, or you can get the whole set for only $36! If you buy the set during May 11-18, $7.20 will go toward the Seattle Humane Society. You can pick these up this Friday at noon PST, so don't miss it! Also make sure to check out Pepper Pot's other products like lip balm, lip gloss, and body oils.
