Hi guys! TGIF! Tonight I have a brand new duo from Literary Lacquers which inspired by William Faulkner's short story, "A Rose for Emily". If you want to read it, you can find it here. Faulkner isn't my favorite author, but I know my MIL did her Master's thesis on his work. The creme from the duo is named for Emily, while the glitter topper, The Best You Have, is named for what Emily asked the shopkeeper for when she was buying the poison. Very dark and appropriate for this time of year. These are available now for $10 each in the Literary Lacquers store.
Literary Lacquers A Rose for Emily (2 coats)
A Rose for Emily is a beautiful dusty rose creme. The last time I reviewed polishes from Literary Lacquers, the polishes were on the thicker side, but I found these to be smooth and easy to work with. I bought a few new China Glaze cremes last week and they were extremely watery, so I really appreciate a well-executed creme. I only had to use 2 coats, and it dried with a shiny finish. Another bonus, removal was a piece of cake.
Literary Lacquers The Best You Have (1 coat) over A Rose for Emily
You don't see as many glitter topcoats as in the past, and that makes me sad. I know Michelle from Polish 'M still makes them, and I'm glad Amy from Literary Lacquers went for it. The Best You Have has matte grey, metallic navy, and holographic orange hexagonal glitter with iridescent holo microglitter in a clear base. I used this one over A Rose for Emily, but this will work with a variety of base colors. The Polished Hippy even did it on its own, and it mostly covers the nail in 3 coats.
The base was thicker than A Rose for Emily (of course, the base has to be thicker to keep all the glitter suspended), but it still applied well with a single coat. It's very glitter dense so you don't really need to do the dab method with this one. Since it's a glitter, I'd recommend a thick topcoat, or a second coat of a thinner one. Also, to make removal easier, use a peel-off basecoat or get that foil out.
What do you think? Several other colors were restocked yesterday and those include:
Sweet Lenore
Soul Within Me Burning
And This Mystery Explore
Mirror of Galadriel
Attic Mice
Sherlock
Irene
Sensible Rabbit
Lestat
