Pipe Dream Polish Bruises (2 coats)
Pipe Dream Polish Ball Gowns (3 coats)
Can I just say something for a minute? I love when indie brands have mini-sized bottles so I can get to know the brand better and save some money (and space in my Helmers...yes, Helmers....as in 3). I really appreciate that Pipe Dream Polish offers mini bottles that actually have a good brush and shape unlike some brands I know (*ahem* OPI). The latest collection from April is called Lorde Gatsby which, as I'm sure you can guess, is for the singer Lorde and The Great Gatsby. What a great idea, right?
Bruises is a duochrome (perhaps multichrome) that flashes both purple and blue based on the angle. This was one of my favorite polishes and it was just beautiful. I thought I also saw a hint of pink in there as well, but I could be wrong. It also had the best application and formula out of the ones I tried which is likely because there is no glitter in it. April brought up a really good point to me on Facebook today and that is indie brands have to use a thicker base for glitter-heavy polishes because the glitter would sink otherwise. Most indie polishes will be slightly thicker than your usual run-of-the-mill polish (this can also be heightened by cold weather as well). No worries, I just add a couple drops of thinner and it's just fine for me. In other words, this isn't something you'll only find from Pipe Dream Polish.
Up next is called Ball Gowns and is a very light grey crelly with purple, turquoise and pink glitters (both circular and hexagonal) with a sprinkling of shimmer in there for good measure. What a pretty ball gown this would be! Since there is a ton of glitter in here, it was a bit thick, but I just added a couple drops of thinner and it was a breeze to work with. I am so sorry for the last photo here; my camera went nuts without me noticing until I was going through pictures. If you want me to redo a macro for a better shot, just let me know.
Ok, sadly enough, I went through some dresses for fun to find something that semi-resembles Ball Gowns and here is my pick. Perhaps I'm way off:
