Dermelect Peptide-Infused Nail Lacquers: Persuasive

Dermelect Persuasive (2 coats)

Beachgal, my most prolific commenter, mentioned the heat lately, and boy has been sultry! While in Tennessee it was around 105 degrees every day! I found that Cambodia was a bit hotter, just based on the fact that the humidity is unbearable. At least the humidity was down a little bit while it was in the 100s here. Speaking of, I still haven't talked about my Cambodia trip! I need to get on that!

You know how some companies have these grandiose claims that their product is going to make all of your promises better, but provide no science behind it? Well, I'm happy to report that Dermelect sent me a PDF of the active ingredient in their polishes called ProSina. Dermelect reports that while using their polishes, you will find your nails stronger, more resistant to chipping, peeling and splitting. The benefits include:

·    Strengthens weak, brittle nails
·    Restores nail flexibility
·    Helps nails resist chipping and splitting
·    Provides long-lasting, high shine and bold color
·    Water and detergent resistant
·    Protects against UV rays
·    DBP, Toulene, Formaldehyde, and cruelty FREE (no animal testing)

Their flier includes scientific studies (they even used statistics-including p values!) on how ProSina can physically bind to the nail as well as penetrate the skin surface through the stratum corneum to moisturize skin and nails. Pretty awesome!

The color options are pretty sparse for now, but hopefully they will expand their color range as the brand gets out there more. They claim Persuasive is a peach creme, but I find it to be a bit more pink than peach. The polish applied like butter, and had almost a whipped consistency. I had it on for 3 days and had no chipping or peeling at all. Since I am always trying new products and colors, I was unable to fully test their strengthening properties. The only slight downfall is the price, at $14 for a 0.4 fl. oz. bottle. To purchase a bottle, you can go to their website, www.dermelect.com or a C.O. Bigelow in NYC.

Heh - heh! Thanks for the call out! Did not think anyone even noticed me as a little old commenter esp since I don't have my own blog. I have the polish in my stash to support one. I am really curious over this brand due to the claims it makes. I have been having major fingernail issues for 5 months - peeling leading me to need to keep them beyond short - almost painfully short! I have been going through a really bad period with chronic long term (will have it for rest of my life) illness and think that plus meds are the root of my nail peeling. But just keeping away from color polish and hydrating them like crazy has not fixed them. I am temped to try this, despite the price point is high. I agree, the colors offered are sparse and not unique - but for a new line, it's important to have wearable core shades. They can branch out later if they find pigments/finishes that work with their formulation. Will be interested to hear about Cambodia. I am feeling really lucky I live at the beach where we have had fog and cool days which I am loving. I am soooo not good with heat.
