Color Club Summer 2011 Wicked Sweet Collection: I Always Get My Man-Darin

Color Club I Always Get My Man-Darin (3 coats)

*sigh* The weekend is almost over. I pretty much didn't do anything productive the last few days except for to do a little bit of cleaning which was well needed. Other than that, I only ran a few errands, bought some new plants and slept. All in all I guess it wasn't too bad of a weekend. I just finished up the first book of the Hunger Games and it was pretty good. I'm going to start the second one tonight (apparently they are making a movie, too).

I looooooovveee I Always Get My Man-Darin, even though the name is a bit cringeworthy. It is a tangerine neon polish with lots of green shimmer throughout. The color is just so juicy looking! Yup, it's sheer, but I can deal with it since I love the color and the scent which is candy orange.

Color Club Summer 2011 Wicked Sweet Collection: Yum Gum

Color Club Yum Gum (3 coats)

Holy crap, I'm now over 500 followers! When I started up this blog 2 years ago (almost exactly), I never would have expected this. Most days it shocks me that so many of you would come by every day just to see what I have to say and offer. Needless to say, I am always thankful for my readers and your kind comments. So, THANK YOU!
Yum Gum is the lighter pink creme of the two pinks from the Wicked Sweet collection. It is a neon version of a Barbie pink color. I love it! Again, it was sheer, so it doesn't have that going for it. I'm also not a fan of bubblegum scents so that's not my favorite either. Luckily the scent isn't very strong so it didn't bother me too much. Overall, I have a love/hate relationship with this color. Are you enjoying your weekend so far?

Color Club Summer 2011 Wicked Sweet Collection: Gimme a Grape Big Kiss

Color Club Gimme a Grape Big Kiss (3 coats)

Man, I'm exhausted. Being out in the scorching heat all day working on the science can be tough (but enjoyable) work. Just being out in the sun for 2 days has already given me a tan! Don't worry, I always use sunscreen (as should you). Anyway, continuing on with the Wicked Sweet collection is Gimme a Grape Big Kiss which is a neon purple jelly. Like the whole collection, it is quite sheer and needed 3 coats which still doesn't cover the nail line. Come on, give me a pigmented polish! I ended up slapping on the coats slightly too thick which gave me a few bubbles so make sure to make thin coats. The scent for this one is unsurprisingly candy grape which is fine if you are into artificial scents. The scent seemed to be slightly stronger on this one compared to the rest of them as well.

Enjoy your weekend!

Color Club Summer 2011 Wicked Sweet Collection: The Lime Starts Here

Color Club The Lime Starts Here (4 coats)

Hola! I have the entire Color Club Wicked Sweet collection to show you, so I guess we should go ahead and get started. Just look how eye scorching this polish is! The Lime Starts Here is a neon lime green jelly that is wonderful in all ways except for the sheerness. Can you believe I had to use 4 coats to get (mostly) full coverage? If you used a flesh colored opaque polish as "underwear" you could definitely use fewer coats. Just make sure to use thin coats or it will take awhile to dry, even with a quick dry topcoat. What makes this collection extra special is the fact they are scented as well! As you can guess, this one smells of lime and can be detected over a topcoat. I tend to like the smell of limes so I really liked this. If you happen to be sensitive to smells, you may want to skip this collection.

Color Club Starry Temptress Summer 2011: Space Case

Color Club Space Case (2 coats)

What ever will I do on Tuesday nights? My beloved Deadliest Catch had the season finale tonight and I am so sad! I'm sure I'll find another way to pass the time, but I'll still miss Sig, Keith, the Hillstrand brothers, Phil (RIP), Wild Bill, Elliot and Junior.

Is it fall yet? While I love summer and the hot weather, I want to buy all of these fall collections NOW! Until then, I have a few more polishes from the summer collections to show you. Space Case is also part of the Starry Temptress collection and is a bubblegum pink polish with holographic glitter. Unfortunately the glitter doesn't translate well to the nail, but you can still see it and it is slightly holo. It's a fun polish, but I think I like Otherworldly better. It also had great pigmentation and formula.

Color Club Starry Temptress Summer 2011: Otherworldly

Color Club Otherworldly (2 coats)

Color Club comes out with the brightest neon polishes for their summer collections. The Starry Temptress collection is definitely no different. Otherworldly is a neon blue polish with small silver hexagonal glitter pieces. Since it is a neon polish it dries extremely fast with a semi-matte finish. I don't prefer that matte look so what is shown here has 1 coat of Poshe topcoat. If you don't want any bumpiness from the glitter, you may want to have at least 2 coats of topcoat, or 1 coat of Gelous and 1 coat of quick dry topcoat. The application was slightly thick, but nothing too serious. I love it!

Misa Spring 2011 Wishes Collection: Touch the Rainbow

Misa Touch the Rainbow (3 coats)

Woo, it's the weekend! I watched Captain America tonight and it was a fun movie. I think I liked Thor better, but it was still good. Mr. Right on the Nail can't wait for The Avengers movie to come out, but they are sure taking their time releasing it in May 2012.

Touch the Rainbow is the final Wishes collection polish to show you and it is a very light sky blue shimmer. I liked the shimmer a lot, but for some reason this polish wasn't my favorite. Maybe I would've liked it better if it was a little darker, I dunno. The name also reminds me of the motto for Skittles which is Experience the Rainbow. The application was similar to other Misa polishes, but again it needed 3 coats for opacity. If you are interested in Misa polishes, you can find them at Nailsupplies.us which was previously Transdesign.

Misa Spring 2011 Wishes Collection: Genie in This Bottle

Misa Genie in This Bottle (3 coats)

Yay, it's almost Friday! I went soil sampling today and boy was it hot (about 100 degrees). After playing in dirt most of the early morning and afternoon, I came away with all nails intact. I did, unfortunately, scrap my middle finger which bled profusely. It didn't hurt at all, but I have a big gash on my knuckle which is the worst. It's really exciting to learn new experimental and sampling techniques though!

I got 2 polishes from the Misa Wishes collection that came out earlier this year. I regret not getting any from the 9-5:00 collection because there seemed to be some nice neutral ones that I could use between days of bright colors. Oh well, there's always the next haul. Genie in This Bottle is a light purple polish with purple and pink shimmer. This one looked really nice on the nail and applied like a dream. The only downside is that it still took 3 coats to fully cover. What is the deal? I feel like so many polishes lately need 3 coats. Come on polish companies, give us some pigmented colors!

In the Mood Color Changing Polishes: Naughty

In the Mood Naughty (cold)

In the Mood Naughty (warm)

In the Mood Naughty (transition)

I love color changing polishes. They seemed to be slightly popular a year ago after Claire's Accessories had quite the variety of colors. As I said before, I am pretty much over crackle polishes, but I really hope magnetic polishes become the new rage. In the Mood has only 9 polishes under their belt, but all contain the color changing properties. Naughty is a tangerine orange shimmer when below body temperature, and changes to a sunny yellow shimmer when warm. I tested these out with cold water to get the orange color and it changed back to yellow within a few minutes. Application was wonderful and only needed 2 coats.

*These polishes were provided the the company or PR representative. All reviews are based solely on my opinion. For more information, please see my full disclosure at the bottom of the site*

OPI Fall 2010 Swiss Collection: The Shade to Watch

OPI The Shade to Watch (3 coats)

Quick-which do you like better Twizzlers or Red Vines? I'm eating Red Vines for dessert as I write this. Mr. Right on the Nail and I came up with the opinion that Twizzlers have a better taste, but Red Vines have a great texture. What do you think?

I completely forgot about the OPI Swiss collection. I think I only bought 1 (maybe 2?) polishes and I wasn't too impressed overall. While at Ulta during their buy 2 get 1 free sale, I thought The Shade to Watch looked nice. Lo and behold, it was from the Swiss collection. It is a lavender purple polish with a blue shimmer that lacked pigmentation. Three coats is shown here, but you can still see a bit of nail line. I was surprised at this because it appeared pretty pigmented in the bottle.

I hope your week has started out well. I'm so sad that it's the next to last episode of Deadliest Catch. What is a girl to do?!

Essence Fairytale Collection: Humpty Dumpty

Essence Humpty Dumpty (2 coats)

Is it bad the first thing I think of is the song "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground? Just in case you don't remember this gem, let me refresh your memory.

Ok, now that I got that out of my system, I have a polish from the Fairytale collection from Essence to show you. Essence is a German brand that you can often find at your local Ulta store. I'm going to be honest in saying I mostly bought this polish because I thought the bottles were pretty (see the bottom photo). Hey, for a $1.49 how could I pass it up? Humpty Dumpty is a glass-flecked purple and grey shimmer that doesn't remind me of Humpty Dumpty at all. I generally like most of the Essence products I've tried and Humpty Dumpty is no exception. Unfortunately I'm not sure how readily available this collection is anymore because they tend to do a lot of limited edition polishes. Have you seen this one around?

Revlon 3 Pack Minis: Butterfly

Revlon Butterfly (2 coats)

I just got home from the last Harry Potter movie. I can't believe it's over now! Did you watch it this weekend? Speaking of final things, this is the last Revlon polish I have to show you. These three pack minis have been pretty awesome in terms of colors, pigment opacity, formula and price. Butterfly was my least favorite polish of the trio, but that's not to say that there's anything wrong with it. It's a nice bright orange creme that applied well, but it just isn't that unique. If you don't have anything similar, then you may enjoy it more. I also wouldn't let it deter me from buying this set.

Final thoughts: I loved this set. If you see it at your local drugstore, I would definitely pick it up because the colors are perfect for summer manis and pedis. And with the great price point ($7.99 or the 3), you won't be breaking the bank in doing so. I hope you're enjoying your weekend!

Revlon 3 Pack Minis: Moss

Revlon Moss (2 coats)

TGIF! There's nothing better than having your cat snuggle up beside you. Since I've started my new job, Mr. Nose has been extremely clingy, which I'm not complaining about at all. He's not used to me being gone for 11 hours a day.

I love murky green polishes which makes Revlon's Moss perfect in my book. At first I thought it was going to look like Essie's Da Bush from the Summer 2011 Resort collection, but Moss is more of an olive green color with more yellow undertones. The formula was just perfect and only needed 2 coats. Despite being a mini bottle, the brush held enough polish to fully cover the nail without having to redip into the polish. I do advise that you add a lot of polish to the brush though. Since the formula is great I didn't have any pooling problems.

Revlon 3 Pack Minis: Tulip

Revlon Tulip (2 coats)

Happy Hump Day! Quick post tonight because it's late and I need to get to sleep :-D I bought another trio of polishes from Revlon at Ulta and we're going to start with Tulip which is a bright pink creme. I love pink polishes and this was my favorite of the set. I know a few of my popular commenters will be agreeing with me on this one. What a cute name, too! This set really reminded me of the Essie summer collection with pink, coral and mossy green polishes. The application was honestly better than many higher end brands. Good job, Revlon! I'll be back in full effect tomorrow, I promise!

Misa Paradise Shore Summer 2011: Under My Sunbrella

Misa Under my Sunbrella (3 coats)

Yup, we've got another sheer one. Under my Sunbrella is the final installment of the Paradise Shore collection (at least what I've got to show you) and is a sheer glass-flecked yellow polish with some orange undertones. The color sort of reminds me of my stained nails underneath which is not a compliment. It reminds me a bit of China Glaze's Lighthouse polish, but I liked that one much better. If you can still find the Anchors Away collection, I would pick that one up instead. Don't worry, I'm not completely done with Misa yet, because I have a few polishes from the Wishes collection to show you. I hope you're having a great week so far!
