C-C-Courage

China Glaze C-C-Courage (2 coats)

Today is the last day of the Wizard of Oohs Ahz Returns collection. C-C-Courage is a frosty purple glitter. Application was slightly thicker than the rest of the collection, but wasn't horrible.

Also, Barielle is having a sale for the next 3 days for 20% off your order.  Don't forget, their polishes are always buy 2 get 1 free!

Good Witch

China Glaze Good Witch (3 Coats)

We're down to the last two polishes from the collection. Today is Good Witch which looks just like Glinda the Good Witch of the South's dress. Unfortunately it is a little too light of a pink for my skin tone. Also, as you can see, it is quite frosty. I'm not usually one who minds frosts, and I think the glitter in this one really helps the polish overall. Application was just like the rest of the collection.

Ruby Pumps

China Glaze Ruby Pumps (2 Coats)

I'm sure most of you have already seen pictures of this polish, but it is so beautiful so why not one more? Ruby Pumps was the only polish from this collection that stayed in their permanent collection. It is a red glitter jelly that is very similar to Dorothy Who? Even the application was similar to it. This is definitely one to have in your collection.

Dorothy Who?

China Glaze Dorothy Who? (3 coats)

Continuing the swatches of the Wizard of Oohs Ahz collection gives us Dorothy Who? This one seems to be a favorite of the collection. It is a blue jelly with blue and silver glitter throughout. It reminds me of a blue version of Ruby Red Pumps. Some have claimed that this one was also somewhat sheer, but I must have had better luck because it was completely opaque with 3 coats. Application was consistent with the others. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I have!

Cowardly Lyin' and Ten Man

China Glaze Cowardly Lyin' (3 coats)

China Glaze Ten Man (3 coats)

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating today! I've had a great few months doing this blog, and I enjoy sharing my passion with others polish fanatics! Today I am going to start swatching the Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection from China Glaze. I think a little background explaining my love for the Wizard of Oz is needed. All while growing up, I would watch the Wizard of Oz every Sunday after church. I had the whole thing memorized (I'm sure my family got sick of it, but they never said anything). When I heard China Glaze was going to rerelease these, I was so excited! These polishes do not disappoint. So far, the only problem I see is that they are very slightly sheer. I used three coats, but you can still see some visible nail line.

Cowardly Lyin' is my Thanksgiving mani. It is a nice, subtle gold color with darker gold glitter. The glitter on Cowardly Lyin' and Ten Man seem to be the same type but different color. The Ten Man was slightly more sheer, and reminds me of Zoya Ginessa a bit (except it has the glitter in it). Overall, this is a great start to the collection, and I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!

Shootout at the OK Coral and Zoya Deal

OPI Shootout at the OK Coral (2 coats)

Shootout at the OK Coral comes from the rerelease of several of OPI's discontinued colors in the Colorcopia Collection. It is a bright coral color with hints of blue. Application was great on this one. I must admit I think this one was 2 coats, but it may have been 3. Either way, it was not too sheer.

Cherry Glazed

Misa Cherry Glazed (2 Coats)

I really don't own many Misa polishes and I'm really not sure why! I know lots of people are in love with this brand, but I just don't have many! Cherry Glazed is a bright red creme with some pink undertones. Application was slightly thin, but not problematic. The color was very pigmented and only needed 2 coats.

I received the China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns collection and will be starting these tonight! I hope to have those up this week!

Red Slipper

Ulta Red Slipper (2 coats)

Every brand has their version of a Ruby Slipper. Usually these are red glitters, but Ulta decided to simply make it a dark red shimmer. This is the first Ulta polish I've tried, and it's not too bad! They often have deals on these (I got them buy 1 get one free) and retail for $5. Application was great and overall I am really happy with this polish!

Starry Night

Quirius Starry Night (2 coats)

It's good to know my camera is not the only liar. This one looks much more blue in the picture than real life. It really looks like a dark violet creme, not really the blurple shown here. I really think this polish is beautiful, blue or not. No application issues at all, and was very pigmented.

Sunshine Orange

Quirius Sunshine Orange (3 Coats) 2 Coats Color Club Japanese Pink Glitter

Jamie from Quirius was kind enough to send me a few extra polishes to swatch for everyone! This one is a bright orange creme.  It is more on the yellow side of orange rather than red. Application was slightly sheer and needed about three coats to be opaque. The color is really bright, but I don't think it really goes well with my skin tone. I decided to add a little glitter on top to really spice things up!

Green-wich Village

OPI Green-wich Village (3 coats)

Today's polish is from OPI called Green-wich Village. It was a part of the OPI Mod About Brights collection. This color is a beautiful grassy green creme that was fairly sheer and needed 3 coats (actually I think it could have used a 4th). Application was slightly runny, but was not too problematic.

Also, I should mention that my husband picked out this polish. When Ulta had their buy 2 get 1 polish + topcoat for free, he went in and bought me some polishes! How sweet is that?! Obviously he has really good taste in polish :-)

China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns

The China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns Collection is now available on Transdesign and Victoria's Nail Supply.

Hue Are You?

Diamond Cosmetics Hue Are You? (2 Coats)

I love colors with different color shimmers! This one comes from Diamond Cosmetics (home of the $2 polishes!!) called Hue Are You? The base is a red with a hint of brown (perhaps this just appears because of all of the gold shimmer throughout). Either way, this one is beautiful! Application was just fine and was opaque in 2 coats.

Erin Island

Quirius Erin Island (3 coats)

Man this one is bright! How awesome is this mint green?! It practically glows in the daytime. Application was a little spotty for the first 2 coats, but fully opaque after the third. I can't believe how many comments I got on this polish when I wore it.

Decades of Shades

Quirius Decades of Shades (2 coats)

I often have problems wearing browns. I think they just clash with my skintone (and some people don't want to wear colors that remind them of bodily excrement). I've found an awesome brown color that goes with my skin! It's a little more red than a milk chocolate, but it is just beautiful. Decades of Shades can be found at Quirius and the application on this one was very smooth.

212

Sephora by OPI 212 (2 coats)

Man, this is one complex polish! 212 is a black flakie glitter polish with lots of gold in the background. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one just looking at the bottle, but on it is gorgeous! I had no application issues either.

Belmont Garden

Quirius Belmont Garden (2 coats)

What a great green! This creamy color dried a little darker on the nail, and had smooth application in 2 coats. If you are looking to get a few of these, you may be in for a wait. Quirius is currently updating their system and will not be taking online orders until April of 2010. I will make sure to remind everyone when the time gets closer to their opening. The great thing about these polishes? The price! You can mix your own set of 6 polishes for $15!

Also, if you live near an Ulta, OPI, Essie, and Nicole polishes are on sale buy 2 get 1 free. Don't forget they have three winter Ulta exclusives from OPI!

Blues in the Night

Nicole Blues in the Night (2 coats)

This was actually my first polish from Nicole. It is a really dark color that looks black in some light, but you can definitely see the dark blue flecks throughout. In the top photo it almost has a purple appearance on the edges, but I cannot really see it upon application. Application was great and really pigmented with only 2 coats.

A lot of people complain about the bottle shape. Since this was my first time trying them, I did notice that the bottle was a little annoying. Since it is angled, it sort of feels like I am going to knock the bottle open when I want to reinsert the brush. Also, it takes up a lot of space in my Helmer from IKEA.

Tallulah

Zoya Tallulah (2 coats)

Zoya's Tallulah comes from their Ooh-La-La Collection and is a a really bright blue shimmer. The shimmer in this one is mostly blue with hints of green throughout. Overall this is a really nice blue, and I can see why it was one of their summer releases. Application was very smooth and mostly opaque in 2 coats which is always a plus in my book.

Yes, these are my new nubbins. My middle finger split really far down, and instead of silk wrapping I decided to just cut it down. I was also having some troubles with my nails peeling from swatching so much so I went to my local Marshall's store and found several of the Barielle nail treatments for $3.99! I've heard good things about these so hopefully they help.

Blue Sapphire

Sephora Brand Blue Sapphire (2 coats)

During the Sephora Friends and Family sale I just had to get a couple polishes. Blue Sapphire is probably one of my favorite glitters. This blue jelly contains tons of silver glitter that really shows up in the blue background. Application was great, and they have the flattened brush like the OPI polishes. The downside? The price and size. This bottle is so tiny! It's only 0.16 oz and the price is $5! I love this one, but I don't know if I can afford any more of these.

Also, Zoya is giving away three free Hot Lips glosses until 11/13/2009 midnight (PST) with the code LIPS. I have a few of them and they are great. I've been meaning to blog about these...sorry about that!

Lucy Diamond

Quirius Lucy Diamond (2 coats)

I think this color is gorgeous! It is a blue creme-definitely a bit darker than a sky blue. Application on this was really interesting since it was almost mousse-like. I loved it and it was really easy to work with!

Sexy in the City

China Glaze Sexy In the City (3 Coats)

China Glaze's Sexy in the City is from their everyday collection that can also be found at Sally's Beauty Supply. This is a great blue shimmer. Application was a little watery, but it was not a big issue. This was three coats and is mostly opaque.

Can I just mention I can't wait for the Wizard of Ooh Ahz Collection from China Glaze. No exact date yet, but I've heard it is this month. When it comes available I'll make sure to mention it on here.

Gah, I broke a nail today. Actually I broke 2, but only 1 was on my swatching hand. I guess tonight I'll have to file and reshape them.

Blazing Blue

Boggi Brites Blazing Blue (4 coats)

Day 2 of Blue Week comes from Boggi Brites that can sometimes be found at Sally's Beauty Supply. I found this one on the clearance rack for $2.99. This one is definitely a neon ,and as you can see, it dries matte. The picture is showing 4 coats of this polish and it is still fairly sheer. Application was severely watery. Overall, this is not a favorite of mine.

I'm Clueless

Unknown Icing (2 Coats)

Today starts Blue Week and we are starting off with a bang. Unfortunately I have no idea what this polish is called. I bought one of the sampler packs from Icing and not even one of them had a label :-( This one is absolutely gorgeous! It is a blue teal with slight green shimmer. The application was very slightly thick, and the brush is sort of weird. It wants to be like the OPI pro-wide brush, but it is not quite right. Overall I loved this color and it was very pigmented. If anyone knows the name, please let me know. Thanks!

Heidi

Zoya Heidi (2 Coats)

Today is Heidi from Zoya. When I saw this one on the site, I thought it would be slightly more pink than it is. It ended up having a strong orange background, but it is overall a coral creme. This one was very pigmented, which made me happy because the application on this one was horrible! It was extremely thick, and there was no way I could apply more than 2 coats even if I wanted to (unless I wanted to add a lot of thinner). Since I didn't add thinner, I think the bad application made me dislike this polish more than it really deserves. This really is a nice coral color.

Tomorrow I will be starting a Week of Blues. Every day will feature a different blue polish with various shades/finishes.

Trixie

Zoya Trixie (2 Coats)

Zoya Trixie is a silver metallic polish with a foil finish. When I first glanced at this one the first thing I thought was, "ALUMINUM FOIL!" (not to be confused with tin foil which is not made anymore...my husband is confused by this). This one is definitely different than the other silver polishes I own. Application was really great on this was and was fairly opaque.

Austine

Zoya Austine (2 coats)

Austine is from the Zoya collection. This isn't my usual kind of color, but I think this one is beautiful! It is a subtle gold shimmer with hints of copper with a slight frosty finish. After I put it on, it sort of reminded me of a seashell (does that make sense to anyone?). I thought it might be sheer, but it was completely opaque after 2 coats.

Preppy Pink

China Glaze Preppy Pink (3 Coats)

Today is another color from the China Glaze Glitters Collection. I love glitter and I love pink, so of course I love this. That being said, it was quite sheer and you can still see visible nail line after 3 thick coats. I love the glitter in this one. The pastel colors that are reflected really remind me of the glitter from the Japanese Collection from Color Club that I love. Although it was slightly sheer, application was fine on this one.
